Top 5: DC Characters Who Should Pack It In And Move To The Marvel Universe

You ever wonder what things would be like if you took certain characters from different comic companies and transplanted them into another? Like say move Captain America to the DCU or Superman to the MU?

Sure you do. We all have.

Well today I'm playing with that concept by choosing 5 characters from the DCU, and moving them into the MU to see how that work. Would they thrive? Would they benefit from being moved to a different set of rules and set up? Or would they just end up worse off than if they had stayed where they were?

For the sake of this post, I'm going with certain teams or individuals I feel might actually have a better time the Marvel Universe, and how those new interactions could benefit them in the long run.


5). The Doom Patrol

The World's Strangest Heroes can't even find a stable home for themselves despite all they've done just to exist. I think a move to the MU would be a better and fitting place for the Doom Patrol to try and live. There's plenty more strange and exotic locales to to explore (The Savage Land, The Microverse, The Negative Zone) and I really feel a change of scenery might do them good.

Plus there's all the possible relationships to see being built. I imagine Cliff Steele and Ben Grim for example, would hit it off like two peas in a pod, with the other members also finding common ground with other MU heroes.

Dr. Caulder will always be Dr. Caulder, so it'd be fun to see him navigate through the MU's own intellectual field with the likes of Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Hank Pym, and more as peers and colleagues. You know they'll view him with suspicion and keep on eye on him, and vice-versa.


The first fun part with be with dealing with a certain Latverian dictator who also happens to share the name Doom....


4). The Blue Beetle (Ted Kord)
Ted Kord is one of DC's most criminally underrated and under-utilized characters, and has been for decades now ever since his JL heyday. He's a brilliant inventor, business mogul, and not a bad detective and crime-fighter on his own merits. A trip to the MU is exactly what this doctor would order. I think once there,he'd finally be appreciated and blossom as his own man.

Shit, I just know him and Peter Parker would be instant BFF's knowing their shared sense of humor. Plus they could also be friendly business rivals now that Peter has Parker Industries to play with.

3). The Metal Men


Just like the Doom Patrol, I personally feel the MU would be a much better fit for these wacky guys.

Again, the major appeal is to see the interactions with Prof. Magnus with the other brilliant minds of the MU, again like Stark, Richards, Pym, and the like and to see how they play off each other.
I don't see why the FF wouldn't benefit the most from meeting these guys, and all the fun team-ups to be had.

And there's also this nice story nugget of a possibility; When Platinum meets the Vision. Instead love triangle/rectangle with Prof. Magnus and Wanda if you want, thrown in the mix.

Oh the possibilities.

2). Lex Luthor


Ok, ok, I know this is probably gonna' feel like a big stretch, but here's my reasoning behind this choice:
Lex Luthor's always maintained the notion that if it weren't for Superman, he'd accomplish soooo much and do all these supposed wonderful things he'd create to benefit mankind and guide them to the future.

Ok, so let's say we move Lex to the MU where there is no Superman to stop him. Now what?
Let's say Lex sets up shop in the MU and goes about his plans for us his way. Think of all the possibilities and interactions he';d have with peers and rivals like Dr. Doom, Reed Richards, and really most of all for me, to see him being business rivals with Tony Stark, Imagine the wars and corporate takeovers and shenanigans that's erupt from those two going at it? Fuck yeah....

1). Animal Man

I say why the fuck not? He's another criminally underrated guy who's coasted off his Morrison buzz for years, and still can't the get the respect he deserves. I think for a simple everyday guy like Buddy, maybe the MU might be the change of pace he needs to finally come into his own. Plus he's got a pretty unique skill-set that not everyone in the MU has at the moment, so really, why not?
He feels more like a Marvel character anyways.


Now I know there are plenty more heroes and villains who could also equally benefit to moving out of the DCU, but these are the ones to me that stand out.

So, Who Would Win?: Iron Man VS. Lex Luthor

Got my swag on pretty hard yesterday.
Ok, maybe not hard, but I did buy three action figures, with there being at least 8 hours separating them apart.... Meaning I made two separate trips to the same store..... In the same day.....At the same unholy corporate spawn of Satan, Wal-Mart.....

First I bought that Superior Venom I had my eye on(and to be fair there was only one left) and Valkyrie. I struggled mightily with that last one, as I really wanted the Tundra figure too. I convinced myself she'd be there later, and went about purchasing the other two.


Then that overwhelming phenomenon that is the Plastic Crack Addiction hit me harder than the the tree that killed Sonny Bono(*Credit to the sexual stud-muffin Joel Gertner for that one) and I went back to Wally World and bought Tundra.

In my defense, I really wanted to build that huge Hulk-Buster figure, and I'm only one figure away from achieving that goal. But alas I have to buy that fucking ugly new Vision figure to do it.

Sigh.

Well, its the first time I was forced to buy figures I didn't want just to complete a build-a-figure.
Looks like this'll be another case of that.

Fuck.....

Plus I'm only two figures away from finishing that kick-ass Rhino BAF, having to buy the ugly original Scarlet Spider figure( He comes with the two Rhino heads, but now my Wal-mart doesn't have him) and either Misty Knight( sadly she comes with a bad case of derp eyes) or the White Tiger.

I guess play Misty for me?

But enough about all that, today we're focusing on this week's edition of So, Who Would Win?, and today's combatants Iron Man and Lex Luthor.

Yessir, its a battle of the billionaires, as Tony Stark and Lex Luthor duke it out to see who's the richest, smartest, and most resourceful bastard out of two comic universes.

Initially there wasn't much separating these two in the personality and ego department, until that fateful day where Tony had a change of heart after almost literally losing his heart in an ironic twist of fate.



After that, Tony decided to mend his ways(sorta) and became more altruistic. So much so that he helped found and fund Earth's mightiest heroes, the Avengers.

Of course of over the years old Tony's reared his ugly head, manifesting itself in alcohol addiction during Civil War and during Axis, when he became the "Superior Iron Man."

But overall, he's still a generally good guy.

Lex Luthor on the other hand has always been a bastard, spending his life and riches in futile attempt after futile attempt to kill Superman ever since he showed up in Metropolis and stole his thunder.

Lex has recently joined the Justice League after the events of Forever Evil, in which he helped save the world from the latest incarnation of the CSA.
I still don't get that one myself, but Geoff Johns apparently has a hard-on for ol' Lex, and figured it'd be fun for Lex to join the same team he's spent almost just as much time destroying as he has Superman.

Whether or not he'll continue to still be a JL member after the events of the Anti-Monitor/Darkseid War has yet to be seen, but as long as Johns is still writing the book, it'll probably stay that way for now.

So, what would a fight between these two rich ego-maniacs look like?
Well for me logically, it'd take place on two fields; the boardroom and the battlefield.

Luthor would try any number of legal and illegal ways to ruin Stark and take over his company, as so many have already tried.

Much like his MU twin, Obadiah Stane, Luthor would probably try to use Tony's past against him, most notably his alcoholism in attempt to put him down permanently.

Plus there;s his numerous inventions and resources.

Stark, just as he usually does, would be forced to build a bigger and better suit of armor, and pull himself out of whatever quagmire Luthor put him in.

So,

So, Who Would Win?: The Red Skull VS. Lex Luthor

Has anyone ever thought of what a fight between these two maniacs would be like?
One's a rich and arrogant Xenophobe, the other an arrogant, hate-rich white-supremacist. Okay more like he hates everyone, but you get the idea.

I'm not sure of a scenario that would cause these two to go at it, other than something involving both their respective arch-foes. Maybe The Skull's plans for world(and possibly universal) domination directly impact and interfere with Lex's plans....for the same thing.



While Lex has no super powers, he is hella' smart and rich, with the resources to back up whatever crazy-ass scheme he's got cooking.



The Red Skull just acquired powers in the form of the late Prof. X's mutant brain, and the inherent powers they contained. Don't ask me how that works though, since the Skull wasn't born with such powers, so how can he even use them. Even if the Xavier's brain was grafted onto Skull's, it shouldn't really work. But you know....comic book science and all that.
