No Bat-Fucks Given

In case you've been away from the internet for a week or more, and I highly doubt that, you've had to do already noticed the big buzz around the latest (Teen) Titans TV series trailer featuring the particularly infamous quote heard 'round the world, "Fuck Batman."

And while it shouldn't be that shocking considering how much that exact phrase has to have been repeated amongst the many heroes and villains of the DCU at various times over the years,  it's the fact that his partner Robin (or maybe ex-partner based off the overall tone of the show and promo) is the one that said it right out of the gate that makes it so shocking.

So yeah, (Teen) Titans is apparently getting the Riverdale treatment and will be edgy AF considering the demographic.

Hey, I don't have a problem with it. Whatever, I may, or may not watch it, but at least the show's already doing its job in generating buzz a head of the premiere.

Here's an online article that helps round up most of the popular jokes and memes dedicated to this new Bat-Phenomenon now:

https://uproxx.com/viral/funniest-best-tweets-titans-tv-show-f-ck-batman/

You just know if this was back during the Adam West Batman show and Dick had said that to Batman, Bruce would've whipped out the ol' industry bat-sized Bat-soap for the boy to chomp on......after getting spanked......probably.....

And it looks like Dick's not the only Bat-Family member to break bad......

If this isn't a PSA I don't know what else is......

Also in the news, director James Gunn is the latest celeb to get in deep shit for some bad stuff he said, which led to Disney shit-canning his ass off Guardians of the Galaxy.

Yup.

Thanks to the beauty of the internet we nice little round up of old tweets Gunn posted where he claims he was trying to be provocatively funny and offensive, all at the same time.

Here's just a small sample of what he tweeted out:

Yeah, probably not a good idea to ever joke about pedophilia like that, especially if you're a celeb who's constantly in the public eye.

Now apparently even though these are old tweets from around 2012 and earlier, before the first Guardians' movie, someone at Disney and Marvel just had to have known this shit was out there floating around to be discovered right?

Surely he would've and in fact HAD told his respective bosses about those......right? I guess not.

As I write about this, there's already plenty of public outcry about this, both in support of Gunn, as in the case of Drax himself, actor/wrestler Dave Bautista, and those against him.

In fact as of now, he has about over 150,000 people who have signed a petition to Disney to re-hire him.

Yeah, good luck with that. Ask Rosanne how that well that'll work out for him.

Look, I'm all for inappropriate humor and dirty, morbid jokes and shit, but making bad jokes about being a pedophile is dumb and really not that funny.....except if you happen to be an actual pedophile.
And for the love of Christ, if you're a well-known celeb auditioning for a big job that'll increase your public presence in the media, how about DON'T joke about pedophilia....or rape....or anything that could be closely associated to those things.

In fact, I've whipped a handy aid for all you celebs out there still debating on whether or not you should tell or tweet out a bad dirty joke:

You're welcome celebs.

I will say this about Gunn, he the was the best thing to happen to the Guardians' franchise, and now I'm curious who'll replace him. It's not going to be easy, especially since a familiar and well-working theme and tone has already been established. Then again, if Gamora's staying dead, as the rumors are saying, maybe a new change of direction will better reflect the changes that were caused by Infinity War.

-Bought the ML Avengers:IW movie THANOS BAF wave King Cobra,

so expect a skit including him very soon....

.....as well as a DC Multiverse Super-Friends version of Superman.

I bought him mainly because he's rocking  his traditional Carolina Blue-colored costume, as well as a real red cloth cape....just like from the original Super Powers action figure version did back in the day.

-Then I ordered the new ML Deathlok and Gwenpool figures from Amazon. Love 'em!!!!!

So, Who Would Win?: The Guardians of the Galaxy VS. Darkseid

That's right folks, if they were good enough for Thanos, they're good enough to give Darkseid a try, as I pit the GoTG against the ruling dictator of Apokolips, Darkseid.

Now sure, you're going to say, "Hey, sure they fought Thanos before in the comics, and are about to do it again in the movies too, but this is Darkseid we're talking about here."

And you're right, Darkseid don't play. And neither will he this time either when faced with what he'd consider "mere pests."

Let's take a quick look at the GoTG roster he'd be facing, shall we?

-Starlord (Powers):
AbilitiesPeak human conditioning

Use of dual element guns
Helmet provides survivability in space

So I finally went to see the #1 movie in America right now, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 with my girlfriend, sister and her boyfriend....

....and I LOVED IT!!!!!!

Goddamn was this a really good movie, perhaps better than the first even?
Someone likened it to being like the Empire Strikes Back, and I can totally see that being the case, as this movie continued to build on the developing of the entire original cast and their own stories, as well as seamlessly bring in old enemies (frenemies?) into the fold with Yondu and Nebula joining the team, albeit temporarily for various reasons.

I even liked Mantis, despite being nowhere near like her comic counterpart, and hope she sticks around for the threequel, because I'd like to see her character develop further as the new team member.

And then there was the reveal of who Quill's dad was in the MCU, Ego the living planet, played perfectly by Kurt Russell.

The reveal that he was a celestial as was Peter, was interesting, and further builds up the cast of the Elders of the Universe, much like the previous Guardians' movie introduced us to the Collector, and the new Thor movie will introduce us to the Grandmaster.

There's a few more for Marvel movies to get around to like the Runner, the Gardner, The Champion, the Stranger, Order and Chaos, Eternity, and of course the Living Tribunal.

Stan Lee had a funny cameo in this one too, as he does in all the Marvel movies, this time hanging out the Watchers, which is funny considering the theory that he himself is in fact a Watcher. Guess not.

And we caught a glimpse of the Original Guardians of the Galaxy, as this movie introduced us to Yondu's old crew in the Ravagers, headed up by Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone, who played Starhawk.

There were other OG members there like Charlie-27 (played by Ving Rames) Martinex (played by Michael Rosenbaum or Lex Luthor from Smallville) and a few other faces I can't recognize.

Now according to director James Gunn, he plans on using Starhawk's team in the future, wanting them to be an important part of the MCU going forward, even if they might not appear in another Guardians movie. I really hope so, because just the bits we got from the movie has definitely piqued my interest in seeing more of this team of Ravagers, especially since they were pretty much acknowledged as being the predecessors or "Guardians of the Galaxy" before Quill's crew were.

Then there were the post-credits, for inventively done, and of course, we get a teaser promise that we'll be seeing Adam Warlock, and hopefully in the next sequel too.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, and would gladly recommend it to any and all comic book fans.

So, Who Would Win?: Star-Lord VS. Adam Strange

TGIF!!!!

Who's excited for Free Comic Book Day tomorrow? I know I am.

I can't wait to hit up my designated stops (only about 4 stores are doing FCD this year) and pick up some sweet, sweet SWAG in the form old back-issues and probably some new stuff, finishing up all the current issues of Gerald Way's Doom Patrol and Jeff Lemire's Moon Knight series. Those are really the only current series I bother reading or picking up when I do hit up a comic book shop these days.

I did pick up some nice SWAG already this week.
First up, on a trip to my local Wal-Mart I just happen to find this two-pack that didn't know was already available in my neck of the woods:

It's the new Ultimate Spider-Man/Ultimate Vulture 2-pack that's a Wal-mart exclusive.
I bought it mainly for the Vulture figure so that I can finally have one, since I already have waaay too many Spider-Man figures at this point. Oh well, what's one more, right Googum? ;)

Then I went ahead ordered the latest Cyclops and Colossus ML X-Men Warlock wave figures.

Sure I could wait and hopefully find them for their regular $19.99 price in the wild, or, or, I could get them now but pay almost double per figure, Yeah, impatient me, went with that last option. Hey, in my defense (as if I needed one) that new Jim Lee-style Cyclops is REALLY hard to find out there.
So yeah, took care of that problem.....

Picking up on the GoTG theme from yesterday, here's a fun match-up to think about; Peter Quill A.K.A. Star-Lord versus Adam Strange, A.K.A, you know, Adam Strange.

If you ever wondered how a fight between these two Earth-born spacemen would go, well.....I imagine, depending on the set up, it'd be a pretty good dust up actually.

Now both guys are just that; regular guys like you and me, with no special powers or abilities, just their wits and bravery.

They do sport some pretty cool space guns though, along with some pretty damn cool space gear.

Here's my made up reasoning for the fight.....

Okay, so the GoTG enter Adam's adopted home, the planet Rann, on one of their usual smuggling runs, looking for some special cosmic artifact for their employer. Adam Strange gets wind of this, and sets off to investigate, and apparently due to a mishap/miscommunication, Adam Strange, with the aid of the native fucked up weird creatures and animals, attacks the GoTG's ship, forcing them to crash. They survive, but now how to contend with said native weird creatures.

Star-Lord takes off to face the guy who seems to be behind all this, Adam Strange.

Annnnnnnd, GO!!!!

Star-Lord

VS.

 Adam Strange

Who wins and why?
Let me know who you think is the last spaceman standing.....

Hope where ever you are, if you can, go out and go celebrate and enjoy any FCD festivities going on near you.
Have a good one people....

"Closing time. You don't have to go home but you can't stay here."

Well..... I kinda always knew this day would come, and it sure has. It's been a hell of a ride, but it's time to for it end. Ti...
