So, Who Would Win?: Thunderbird VS. Warpath

TGIT!!!!

For this week's edition of So, Who Would Win?, I'm pitting mutant against mutant, brother against brother, Native American versus Native American, when I force the original Thunderbird, John Proudstar against his younger brother James Proudstar a.k.a. Warpath.

Call it a morbid inclination on my part to see which of the two brothers is the better.

Now ideally, both of them seem to be equals as far as their mutant powers go, seeing as how they both haven enhanced strength (both can lift up two two tons) have enhanced speed, agility, and endurance.

Now here's where the key differences come in; while both have combat training from being an X-Men, and john has military training from his stint as a marine, his younger brother James has the additional benefit of being trained by Cable during his years in that version of X-Force. Also there's his time with Pete Wisdom's X-Force, and Wolverine's black ops incarnation of X-Force, where his killer instincts and training were super-finely honed.

Add in the fact that while older, John doesn't have as many years combat training as a super-hero that his brother James does, and things get even more interesting.

So,

Thunderbird

VS.

Warpath

Who wins and why?
Let me know what you think in the comments' section below.

Also, as promised, here's a picture of my Christmas Swag from my family:

-Poo Dough
-Pop Fumko Surfing Batman '66
-Batman bottle opener and flashlight
-Deadpool movie DVD (not shown)
-DC Comics coloring book(also not shown and damn cool because of all the old JLA covers you get color in)

Plus 100$ in both cash and an Amazon gift card...which I promptly spent on ordering figures and the Old Man Logan trade.

In case you didn't already know, actress Carrie Fisher died recently. She suffered heart complications, and then passed away on December 27th. She was only 60 year old, the same age as my own mother.

What's even sadder, is that her mother, famed actress Debbie Reynolds then had a stroke of her own, and likewise passed away a day later after her daughter Carrie. She was 84.

Goddamn, 2016 has been straight up savage when it comes to celebrity deaths. And there's only two days left....

Tomorrow I'm closing out the year with a quick reflection on my Top Ten favorite action figures of 2016 (here's a hint, they're all Marvel Legends)

So tune in if you care, as we put 2016 to bed on this blog.

well for me the much greater loss here is that of Carrie Fisher since i grew up on Star Wars and in general any time a parent out lives their offspring (even if it is only by one day) it's just tragic. especially when you consider that Reynolds was at an age where she lived a pretty long life where as her daughter passed away only at 60.
as for the match up, pretty much a dead heat i mean you've got one brother that took up the mantle of the other one that died on an X-Men mission and as far as i know they both have the same powers and skills. but the longer combat experience with the X-Men might give Warpath an edge. my first real introduction to Thunderbird was when i got a copy of X-Men Classic 1 and 2. i really liked his character, during my early teen years i was really able to relate to Thunderbird's anger issues and anti-social behavior. i only have one Thunderbird fan art piece it's 20 years old now but i'm still pretty happy with it today http://csuhsux.deviantart.com/art/John-Proudstar-code-name-Thunderbird-503400013

Yeah, I can definitely see how the older generation, I guess Gen X(?) would feel this loss more deeply than most. It's a damn shame either way, especially since she was supposed to be in SW 9, and just completed SW 8 a couple months ago. Now they'll have to kill her off off-panel I guess to explain the absence.

Her mother simply couldn't live without her daughter, and that's how that happened. I truly feel for that family to suffer two back-to-back crippling losses like that during the holidays.

As for the brothers Proudstar, back in 2010 marvel had this low-key "big" event called the Chaos War where dead heroes and villains were coming back due to a huge battle with all of the MU gods. Well somehow James was forced to fight his brother John, and James eventually won due to be the stronger of the due. I believe he also had the combat experience edge as well.

Then John merged with the mythical Thunderbird of his people, the Apache, and pretty much was like his version of the Phoenix. Then he died again.
So yeah, despite being much younger, in the end James won out.

I don't know how well 2016 treated you outside of so much death, but I truly hope 2017 treats you better. Hell, treats us all better, because after how this year was, we could really use a year-long break. Oh wait, Trump's president. Nope,. we're fucked.

Happy New Year's Shlomo.

actually, on a personal and professional level 2016 has been a pretty good year for me. probably the high lights for me were the vacations my wife and i went on through out the year like in Southern CA., Portland, Seattle and in Greece/Israel. work is not with out it's hassles ofcourse but then again if i was getting well paid to do something i loved all the time it wouldn't be a job now would it?
as for Trump, there's far more with him i disagree with (russia for example) then i agree with. but, thanks to our wonderful electoral college it is what it is and i've just decided to accept the results and get on with my life. Happy New Year to you Dale and to all our absent friends (Dan, Randomnerd, K.o.T, Omega Agent 1). by the way did you see the Thunderbird painting i have on deviant art?

Wow, well that's good to hear man. Truly. Yeah that absent friends kinda' hurts, 'cause I miss all of them badly. It's not as much fun with the old gang around you know?

I spoke to Random recently as she's doing good, but I doubt we'll see her around these parts anytime. Soon. Don't know what happened to King, other than work, Omega's totally MIA for over a year, even though it looks like he updated his Blogger.com profile icon, and Dan's busy (but in a good way) with his job as well. I've talked to him on FB and Instagram and mentioned how much he's sorely missed. We might yet see him in 2017 as kinda' alluded to possibly coming back to do his blog again.

So really for now, there's just you, me, and Googum. Damn.

Yes, yes I did, and no smoke up your ass, but it's pretty damn good. I like the details you put in, between the shadows of the tree, and the details of the design of his costume. Very well done man.

Thanks for the update bro. Have a safe new year celebration, have fun but don't lose your head. A DUI or some other shit like that is no way to kick off 2017.

You don't have to worry about that man. I'll be inside, warm, and enjoying some herbal refreshments;)

Happy New Year!

"Closing time. You don't have to go home but you can't stay here."

Well..... I kinda always knew this day would come, and it sure has. It's been a hell of a ride, but it's time to for it end. Ti...
