So, Who Would Win?: Hellcat VS. Tigra

TGIF!!!!

Getting right into it today, as I decided to pit two popular female Marvel superheroes against each other,
Hellcat and Tigra.

Now I don't know if you already knew this or not, but Patsy Walker is using Tigra's old costume from the 70's, back when she was calling herself  The Cat.

Well once Greer Nelson went into full-on cat mode, she didn't need a costume anymore. So when Marvel golden age character Patsy walker decided to become a bona fide superhero, she decided to use Tigra's old duds, and the rest is history.

Also interestingly enough, both Tigra and Hellcat have served as Avengers. Just not at the same time.

Anyhoo, I figured it'd be a cool match-up between the two to see who wore the blue and yellow best, and who was the better "Cat."

Let's take a quick look at their stats using Marvel.com:

Hellcat:

Height
5'8"
Weight
135 lbs
Eyes
Blue
Hair
Red

Powers:

As a result of her experiences in hell and her resurrection, Patsy has a "demon sight" perception that allows her to sense mystical phenomena or those items or persons tinged with mystical energy. She is also surrounded by a mystical field that can deflect mystical attacks. It also allows Patsy to summon a costume that mimics her original Hellcat costume, and it appears in a fashion according to her whim. Hellcat once possessed enhanced psionic abilities, due to the mental stimulation of Moondragon’s Titanian technology. She could move small objects telekinetically, resist mental control, and on one occasion was able to generate a psychokinetic force-blast. Moondragon has since used her own advanced psionic powers to undo the effects of her psychic augmenter. Since then, Walker’s psychic abilities have returned but to a far lesser degree than at their peak. She no longer has any psychokinetic ability, but she is still sensitive to certain psychic phenomena.

Tigra:

Height
5'10"
Weight
180 lbs.
Eyes
Green
Hair
Orange fur with black stripes; Black in human form

Powers:
Tigra possesses superhumanly acute senses of smell, hearing, and vision as well as night vision. She also has superhuman strength, speed, agility, endurance, and healing ability.

Got all that? Good.

So......

Hellcat

 VS.

Tigra

Who Wins and Why?
You know the drill. Tell me who you think is the ultimate winner.

Hope you guys have a good weekend

I'm going O.G.: Tigra all the way!

I was just talking about Hellcat in the Gargoyle post I did too...
Tigra is way better though.

As for why she wins... Hellcat is crazy? Or was... I'm actually not up to date on her current mental status. I do both love and simultaneously hate her costume, though.

-Back to Hell for her!!!

Yeah I guess Tigra probably(maybe?) overpowers her.

From what I understand she's very sane, having overcome what was done to her. In fact it was some demon that made her kill herself, so she's good.

-Back to Hell for her anyways!

"Well once Greer Nelson went into full-on cat mode, she didn't need a costume anymore. So when Marvel golden age character Patsy walker decided to become a bona fide superhero, she decided to use Tigra's old duds, and the rest is history."

I know Marvel occasionally writes this (most recently in West Coast Avengers #15) but it's not correct. Patsy's costume resembles Greer's old Cat uniform, but it's not the same. First, the Cat uniforms had a cat's paw emblem on the chest, while the one Patsy found does not. Second, the Cat uniforms had a yellow cowl, while Patsy's is blue (or black, depending on how you understand Marvel's coloring). It's sometimes hard to see with the original Cat uniforms due to heavy shading, which may be why the Hellcat costume is shown the way it is. Third, Donalbain had dozens of the Cat uniforms so how would Patsy know which one was Greer's?

The OHOTMU entry for Hellcat repeats the claim, adding that Donalbain was a former employee of Brand and they confiscated his property when he died. This bit of info had never appeared anywhere else. It also doesn't seem realistic. Did Macmillan go after Robert Maxwell's assets after his death?

Also Patsy's costume is supposed to enhance her athleticism, something not claimed for the Cat uniforms. My No Prize hypothesis is that Brand heard about the Cat (perhaps the same rumors that Tony Stark heard in Avengers #144) and tried creating their own version. They didn't know about Greer and Shirlee Bryant receiving Dr. Tumolo's treatments, so they thought the suit did the enhancing. Their version is what Patsy found and adopted.

I've always wondered who would have one if Greer and Shirlee had fought? Greer had better results from Dr. Tumolo's experiments, but Shirlee had the Cat uniform to supplement her less-developed (but still enhanced) abilities.
Thanks!

"Closing time. You don't have to go home but you can't stay here."

Well..... I kinda always knew this day would come, and it sure has. It's been a hell of a ride, but it's time to for it end. Ti...
