So, Who Would Win?: Dracula VS. Morbius The Living Vampire

TGIT!!!!!!

I know, I know, Halloween's over and has been for a week or so.
But this particular match-up really intrigued me.
I'm talking about Morbius the Living Vampire versus the MU's version of Dracula.

To my knowledge, these two have never faced off before or even met before, despite the seemingly inevitability of the whole thing.
Which is really weird since when has Marvel ever really not taken advantage of such an obvious money-making match-up before?

But don't worry fearless readers, because yours truly, Mr. Morbid, plans on righting that wrong, and laying out for you a nice scenario for you on how and why these two should not only meet, but pound it out in the classic comic time-honored tradition of this Halloween Hangover edition of So, Who Would Win?

First, let's put these in perspective as far as just how powerful these two are.

Dracula in the MU, has gone toe-to-toe with some of Marvel's most popular heroes, and has pretty much beaten them all.

Don't believe me, let's look at a quick list of heroes he's pwned:

-Dr. Strange

- The Uncanny X-Men

-Spider-Man

-The Silver Surfer( yes, even someone as powerful as the Silver Surfer)

-Blade

So, yeah, Dracula's not someone you wanna' fuck with.

Morbius's is no slouch either though. While he may not have racked up an impressive list of victories like Dracula has, he's still gone up against his share of popular MU characters as well and lived to tell about it.

Spider-Man

Blade

- Dr. Strange

- Venom

- Carnage
So, yeah, Morbius ain't no one to be fucked with either.

Also, lets take a quick look at each participant's strengths and weaknesses:

Dracula:
  • Incredible super-strength
  • An amazingly productive healing factor
  • Can control people and animals
  • Immortal
  • Flight
  • Can turn into mist, animals, and other things
  • Super fast and agile
  • Can control the weather
  • Master strategist
  • Super-resistant to conventional injury and diseases
  • Can be harmed by wooden stakes, beheading, silver, garlic, sunlight
  • Needs blood to survive
  • Weak during sunlight hours
  • Can be harmed and destroyed by a Darkhold spell known as the Montesi Formula.

Morbius:
  • Super-strength
  • Flight
  • Enhanced speed and agility
  • Can fight in sunlight but still has an aversion to it
  • Mind-control
  • Shape-change
  • has no weakness to traditionally known Vampire deterrents such as silver, garlic, or religious objects.
  • Scientifically super-smart
  • Limited Healing Factor

So here's my ideal scenario:

In a small but modern enough European village, Morbius has heard of a nearby resident scientist that's made huge strides in the particular areas of science and medicine that could possibly produce a cure for Morbius's condition.

Unfortunately for Morbie, Dracula too has sought out the attractive and famous scientist, intending to turn her in order for her to work for him.

This is in direct conflict with Morbius's needs, and the two run into each other just as Dracula has entranced and seduced the beautiful women into giving him her neck for a tasty bite.

Dracula's not too happy about being interrupted, especially by a being like Morbius, who he looks upon with disgust. After all, Morbius isn't a true vampire, just a pathetic pretender in name only, since Morbius's origins are more science than supernatural.

The two lock eyes and size each other up for what seems like an eternity, while the poor scientist is carelessly tossed aside like discarded paper floating in a breeze.

"You, foul beast. Pathetic pretender. How dare you besmirch the revered name Vampyre!
You are an affront to my kind that has been allowed to walk this world for too long.
For that, and for interfering in my affairs, you have earned my ire....and my wrath!"

"When you're done preening and posturing, oh lord of the vampires, I'm ready to finally to put you out of your misery."

"You fool! it is YOU who shall finally be delivered from your cursed existence! Not out of mercy for you, but mercy for my eyes so that I shall never have to see or hear of you again."

"Enough talk! I hunger! And you're in my way....."

So,

Dracula, Lord of the Vampires

VS.

Morbius, The Living Vampire

Who Wins and why?

i think this may be your best match up ever. even though the marvel comics version of him seems a bit over powered i'm going to go with Dracula. i just think as a true vampire he just has too many powers at his disposal. speaking of Dracula vs the X-men here's another cool moment from that issue http://proisraelctu.blogspot.com/search?q=dracula

Yeah I saw that one, I think even still have it somewhere around the house.
As much I'd prefer Morbius to win it( don't ask me why) Dracula's got this in the bag.
Like you said, he's just too powerful. If he can give guys like Dr. Strange and the X-Men (With Wolverine no doubt) than you know Morbius doesn't have a huge chance of taking him.
Of course there's always multiple factors to consider, like what if Morbius was able to hold off and distract Dracula long enough for the sun to come up? Both hate the sun, but its only really deadly to Dracula.
Sure, with help Morbius could possibly do it, especially he used tried and tested artifacts and weapons that harm only Drac and not a science-based Vampire such as himself. Not to mention, he is a brilliant scientist. Surely he'd be able to whip up something to give him a slight edge. But yeah, in the long run, Dracula wins out in the end.

BTW, just saw this over at Ross's Super-Team Family blog:

Didn't know if you already saw it or not.

very thoughtful of you to mention it. no i hadn't seen it yet but as you put it before me no "likie". never been into Legion and the work on that site as i mentioned before has long since lost it's appeal to me. it's not a good blend of images and it doesn't work as a concept either. it gets even more retarded when you read what he writes underneath the art work.

Damn Shlomo, tell us how you really feel, ha ha.
I like his stuff myself, and yeah they're a lot of the times they're hit and miss, but its still not bad photoshop work. I myself don't know if I could pull off the flawless way he merges and manipulates those different images.

As for the stuff he writes on the covers, dude, he's just being faithful to the old silver age comics with the silly play on words and all. It's not meant to be taken too seriously.
But to each his own;)

i'm not talking about the covers I said what he writes below the art work, as in the editorial part of the posting. he's done several ROM with who ever postings in the past and talks about how much he misses ROM but he didn't even know about IDW bringing ROM back which has been all over the net since early July. even casual fans or just about anybody who are in their late 30s and up who are still into comics know about it. he also talks about their being a "huge" fan base for ROM still. even as a ROM fan myself I don't know if the word huge is what I would use. it's a very vocal, persistent and maybe even a significant sized fan base but huge? he's come up with some good stuff in the past here and there but fuck him and his site none the less.

Mr. Morbid's House Of Fun said...

Huh, well that is interesting that he wasn't aware about the IDW stuff. Doesn't really have an excuse considering how current he appears to be on other topics. Meh.

Dracula has Morbius in all categories strength, speed, etc but if Morbius comes with holy water, garlic, or any of Dracula's other banes he might be able to whittle him down some. Like fighting Superman with kryptonite. Depends on Morbius' knowledge/prep.Random encounter though goes to Drac.

"Closing time. You don't have to go home but you can't stay here."

Well..... I kinda always knew this day would come, and it sure has. It's been a hell of a ride, but it's time to for it end. Ti...
