War And Rumors Of War

Ok, so while I'm more than down to go see the upcoming Civil War movie, which more than likely will feature Rhodey buying the farm, I'm very against the blatant cash grab by Marvel when they announced a Civil War 2. Why does there even need to be a sequel to this? What's more to be gained other than predictably cashing in the name? Yeah I know, "smart business sense and marketing", but still, it's very transparent and sicking.

 No wonder I hardly buy new comics (or even comics in general) anymore....

Fantasy Team-Up: War Machine and Cyborg

You don't really have to think about this match-up too much, but if you do, you're thinking too hard because this is just another one of those no-brainers.

-Both are strong black heroes
-Both are positive role models.
-Both men seem to really love hardware, especially the kind you can wear.
-Both men have plenty of heart, courage, and character.
-Both men have moved up from being traditionally regarded as second-tier heroes to top-tier spots:
Cyborg finally graduated from the Teen Titans to the Justice League; War Machine was an Avenger.

Also, Cyborg used to team with a bunch of sidekicks, while Rhodey was essentially Iron Man's sidekick(of sorts)

Both of these men are time-tested veterans who've seen it all and done it all, yet haven't gotten jaded to the super-hero game.


One can only imagine the sheer firepower these two would unleash on whoever was dumb enough to pick a fight with either of these two men, let alone both of them at the same time.

I also think these two men would be smart enough to resist going the way of traditional team-ups by fighting first, then teaming up second.

Not here, not this time.

I believe whatever the circumstances that would pair these two up, these men would not only buck tradition, but put on a hell of show for the readers.

What's interesting to note is the small differences they have.
-Rhodey was a former soldier, while Vic was a former star athelete.
-Rhodey used to be cyborg; half-man, half-machine, but then got better and regained his normal human body. Unfortunately Cyborg almost had that, only to become even more machine-like over the years, and even more recently in the NU52 continuity after being killed and coming back more machine than ever before.

War Machine and Cyborg.....brothers from another mother, armored from head to toe and ready to go.



Just point them in the direction of the big bad(s) and let 'em do their thing.

BTW....

I had to do it. I broke down and bought the newest version of War Machine, the new ML Hulk-buster Wave War Machine figure.

He looks great for being a mostly repainted Iron Patriot figure, but he does comes with a half-raised visor alternative head which features the Don Cheadle version.

Hey, in his defense, he really does make it look good;)

So who watched Arrow last night?
Pretty good huh?
I didn't think I'd actually miss seeing Tommy like I did, when he showed up in this week's flashback-heavy episode.

I know he served his purpose, and especially more so being dead and all. but still....

Overall it was a pretty good episode, but I didn't like one major thing;
The fact that Deathstroke got jobbed out.

Merlyin being responsible for him escaping was kinda' cool on Merlyin's end, but it would've been even better if Slade was the one soley responsible for his getting free.

Just seemed wrong to see him used as a pawn, rather than as big tme baddie in his own right.
Maybe it's just me....

At least next week's proving to be better, as Merlyin gets forcibly taken by Ollie and Thea to Nanda Parbat to get a taste of his own medicine.

Plus the A.T.O.M. suit debuts,so yay!

Anyhoo, onto this week's editon of So, Who Would Win?

Today I'm pitting Green Lantern John Stewart against Rhody Rhodes as War Machine.

I don't know about you guys, but this match up seems really, really appealing, and no, not  Django Unchained Mandingo-fighting appealing;)

I'm just curious as to the stradegies that each participant would use.
We all know(or kinda' know) maybe what their precedessors( Hal and Tony) might do, but this one would be a different fight from the one Hal and Tony would engage in.

The biggest difference is that both John and Rhodey are military trained soliders(both were marines) so you know that's going to factor in big time in the way they approach this fight.

I imagine one or the other will feel the other out, and then quickly deduce that he's fighting a trained soldier, and then shit will get real.

Does John go Sniper on this one, or will Rhodey's skills and suit win the day?

BTW, I don't know if you guys have heard, but between actor Idris Ilba and Diggle, I'm routing for diggle to play John Stewart as a live-action GL if it ever happens.
Sure it'd be confusing at first, but he's got the chops to play a soldier(duh!)
