Dream Team: Youngblood

I know I've probably mentioned this before, well at least I have on Twitter (Trust me I'm there and you should see the shit I post and retweet on there) but if you haven't already heard creator Rob Liefield has essentially lost the rights to his creation Youngblood.

Basically, when Liefield's Awesome Entertainment company (which was founded in 1997) went bust in 2000, Liefield and his business partners each got a certain number of Liefield's creations from his catalogue as a means of financial compensation.

Liefield's ex-business partner, Scott Rosenberg kept the rights to Youngblood and decided to carry publishing the title w/o Liefield, and after much back and forth between the two, thus Liefield backed off and has made peace that Youngblood's no longer owns his creation.

Sad, and fucked up? Oh yeah! I'm not huge Liefield supporter these days for various reasons, but even I have to agree that Rob got fucked on this one, and that no creator should be forced to lose the rights to his creation, unless he wanted to.

Hey, I'll readily admit it; back in the early 90's during Image Comics' heyday, I was a HUGE fan from '92-'96. More so of Rob's stuff then Spawn and some of the others. I'd later gravitate towards Savage Dragon as well, and Jim Lee and Marc Silvestri's books were equally competing from my money back then as well, so trust me, I'm coming at this article from a genuine place of love.

Anyhoo, today I'm focusing on the team and who I'd like to see on it if they were being published today, which they're supposed to be, but we'll see.

This is strictly my take on who I feel should be on the team, and spoilers, with one or two exceptions, must of them will be from the era I read Youngblood, not the new additions and rosters since then.

1). Shaft (Team Leader)

He's always been the leader in just about every other incarnation of the team ever since he was chosen to replace Battlestone. There's no reason to not keep him there in that position.

2). Diehard

I've always liked his design, he's more robot than man, so can do all sorts of shit with him.

3). Chapel


Chapel's always stood out from the team, and that's mainly because he's always been a merc or CIA assassin. My reason for initially placing him in the team is that he's a CIA/government plant to observe and report back to the US government about the team, and "clean up" anything that needs cleaning up. He'd eventually be removed from the team later down the line.



4). Badrock


The only other teen on the team besiews Suprema, and a hell of a powerhouse. Plus he's an OG member more or less.

5). Vogue


She's the Black Widow to Shaft's Captain America/Hawkeye. Every group needs a hot Russian spy figure on a team these days right?

6). Cougar

He's a good character overall and is a human/cat-person hybrid. That should make for some fun drama.

7). Suprema 


I mean if Youngblood's supposed to be like the Teen Titans, then Suprema's your Wonder Girl analogue right there. A hell of a powerhouse and the kid sister to Liefield's version of Superman but w/ an attitude problem, Supreme. She'll be a great addition to the team. Maybe she can hook up with Badrock?

So that's my thoughts for a Youngblood team. I'm sure everyone has their version or interpretation, and this one just happens to be mine. If you have your own Youngblood dream roster, let me know in the comments' section.

Top 5 Spider-Man Villains That Could've Been Dr. Strange Villains Instead

Who's seen the new trailer for the next MCU movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home?
I have and it's pretty good actually. No I still haven't seen Homecoming yet and I'm ok with that, but this one looks good enough to watch.

In the new trailer, Mysterio claims to be from an alternate universe similar to ours but different. Even Fury believes this story.

And while I know fans are all a buzz with the possibility of an actual multiverse existing, especially now that time travel is a thing in the MCU now thanks to Endgame, I personally don't feel that's the case just yet. Nope instead, I think Mysterio's story about being a hero from another universe is just  like the monsters in the movie he created (Hydro-Man and Molten Man respectively) all part of his plot to endear himself to the MCU and get their guard down in order to do whatever evil scheme he's got cooked up.

Now sure I could be wrong here, but that's what I think. Not only is he pretending to be a hero, but he's also upping the ante by claiming to be from another world. And again, after everything Fury and Spider-Man's seen the possibility of a whole multiverse existing doesn't seem that all far-fetched does it?

I'll explain why as I go over my Top 5 list of Spider-Man Villains that could've just as easily been Dr. Strange villains instead.


5). The Green Goblin



Read this and you tell that the Green Goblin wouldn't have a been a really good villain for Dr. Strange if Ditko had kept the supernatural aspect the character and his origins intact:

 I'm not sure how the original version of the Green Goblin would've ultimately faired in the MU over time, or even if he'd become as popular as he eventually became, but I'd like to think he'd have been a natural for becoming one of he good doctor's most persistent foes. Hell, he could even retain the double identity of Norman Osborn, so that instead of being a persona that developed due to a chemical he created, it'd be more a case of supernatural possession.


4). Puma


Since his powers are already mystical in nature, it's not much of a stretch to me why Puma wouldn't be an ideal opponent for Dr. Strange. Replace his original purpose of being bred to kill the Beyonder with that of a/the sorcerer supreme and add in his side job as a mercenary, and you wouldn't have too work to hard to explain away his addition into Strange's rogues gallery.

3). Will O' The Wisp

Another science-created super villain, and fellow member of the Outlaws with the #4 entry, the Will O' the Wisp could instead be a magical creature, a demon, a vengeful ghost, or something else entirely. Either way he could become a potential mystical menace for the good doctor to fight instead of Spider-Man. His abilities of within the realm of the manipulation of the electromagnetic spectrum makes him on paper a very powerful threat to anyone. Despite all this, and his many, many abilities,

2). Venom 

Yes Venom. All you have to do is just change alien symbiote to a tool of an evil sorcerer or demonic entity and Venom's your man.
And hey it's not like it's that much of a total stretch considering how Marvel's allowed writer Donny Coates to give the race of symbiotes a new, retconned origin as being created out of living darkness from the dark god known as Knull. If we were to fully go with the mystical aspect of Knull, then he'd make a logical enemy for Dr. Strange, with the symbiotes being soldiers in his war on everything, Strange included. Venom could either be a powerful symbiote that's given or gained independent sentience, or is an amalgamation of all the symbiotes personified as a creature calling itself Venom. Either way, Strange would have a new and very deadly adversary to deal with.

1). Mysterio

I've already given away the #1 entrant, but here's why he could be a potential villain for Dr. Strange:
Either his powers and abilities are mystical in nature, or he remains as he is, a formidable master of special FX with a personal vendetta against the good doctor due to say, being exposed as a fraud, or having one of his world-conquering schemes put down by Strange, either way, he gains an enemy for life in Mysterio.

"Mack The Knife"

On the figure front I bought a bunch as you're about to see:

I found most of the new Spider-Man Kingpin BAF wave at my local Walmart with the exception of Night Thrasher who I had to buy off Amazon.

I found one lone Walgreens exclusive Mystique figure at the last of the 3 Walgreens stores I have in my town, so that was an easy buy. Plus Walgreens is currently running a sale on all Marvel Legends figures w/ your Walgreens rewards card, knocking them from $19.99 a piece to $13.99.

Then I found the DC Multiverse Bizarro figure at another Walgreens. Again, an easy buy, especially all the accessories he comes with and how good he looks as a figure. I usually skip DC figures these days, but he was a notable exception. Plus my good buddy Googum has one and his short skit with his Bizarro figure helped sell me on him.

So yeah, throw in a twin set of impulse purchases with the Walgreens exclusive Medusa and an extra Yon-Rogg figure and I think I'm good for on action figures for the rest of the month.

Eclipse of the Loon

Took a week off from posting and I might just do so again or even longer after this one, but I wanted to at least get this out. It's this month's newest skit, starring Moon Knight and Mickey Mouse.

Honestly the fact that Moon Knight doesn't have a show on Netflix or something planned for Disney Plus is really frustrating, especially considering just how much mileage a show about Moon Knight's ongoing battle with mental illness would get. I'm thinking at least two seasons' worth of material based of both recent MK runs by Huston, Ellis, Bunn, and Lemire, with a little Doug Monach thrown in there.
