Building the Beast

So the Marvel Legends Doctor Strange wave finally hit stores around my area, or really just my local Walgreen's. I have 3 to choose from, bust I keep seeing the same poor distribution issues; only 2 figures are put out, with one store only carrying one,

This is a big difference from the X-Men wave that was just released here, where at the main Walgreen's. they pretty much had the whole set available with some exceptions.

It was explained to me that with Walgreen's, they don't do what you'd normally expect them to do, and order and distribute an entire case. No, instead they'll break 'em up, and go from there.

And that dear friends, is why I primarily buy my figures online.
It's just easier and more convenient. Not always convenient to my wallet, but at least I know I'm getting what I want.

So I now have 5 out of the 8, and wound up having to buy some figures I normally wouldn't have, like the movie version of Baron Karl Mordo,

( God I want an old-school comic book one so bad now)

and another version of the previously released Marvel Now Dr. Strange, but this time he has his cape.

They go with the the movie version Dr. Strange figure and a figure of him in his Astral form

The only one left to get are the main ones, other than the Brother Voodoo figure I have,

are the Marvel Now Iron Fist, The Enchantress, and Nico Minoru, from the Runaways.

But when I do buy them all, I get to build this magnificent bastard

THE DREADED DORMAMMU!!!!!!

To the Amazon machine apparently......

So, Who Would Win?: The Green Lantern Corps VS. The Brood

TGIF!!!!

Attempting to do a horror-themed edition of So Who Would Win? for the rest of the month, and what's scarier than a deadly race of killer aliens bent on universal domination?

Today I'm pitting DC's intergalactic policemen, The Green Lantern Corps against the evil and viciousness that is Marvel's Brood.

For those who don't know (and how can you not by now) the Brood are are an ancient alien race of carnivores based on a monarchy system, i.e. they have a queen mother, who sends out her workers to go and forcefully colonize other worlds.

They do this buy going out and attacking and implanting Brood eggs in other beings, that are later taken over by the embedded Brood eggs. So basically, if they don't straight up kill and eat you, they'll knock you up with their eggs, that'll later kill you by transforming into a new Brood soldier.. Nasty, nasty business, that's been going on ever  since writer Chris Claremont introduced them in Uncanny X-Men#155, back in 1982.

Here's a description off their official and what makes them so physically so formidable:

Physical characteristics[edit]

Despite their resemblance to insects, the Brood have endoskeletons as well as exoskeletons. Also unlike insects, they have fanged jaws instead of mandibles. Their skulls are triangular and flat, with a birthmark (such as the battle axe which is most common in broodlings but are different for each Brood) between their large eyes. Their two front legs are actually long tentacles they can use to manipulate objects.
Due to their natural body armor and teeth, the Brood are very dangerous in combat. In addition, they have stingers that can deliver either paralyzing or killing poison.

Damn. Yeah, so they're really nothing you want to fuck with....even with say, superpowers.
But that's exactly what groups like the X-Men, Avengers, and many other various Marvel superheroes have done over the years.

In my scenario, the Brood have finally spread to the sectors of worlds protected by the GLC, to continue to do what they've always done, multiply and conquer.
It's by doing so and attacking a GLC member, that the paths of both participants become bound to meet.

The GLC enter in the last recorded sector where the Brood home world is set to be and prepare to mete out some much deserved justice for their fallen brothers and for the untold number of victims from countless worlds taken by the Brood.

So,

The GLC

VS.

The Brood

Who wins and why?
As always let me know what you think in the comments' section.

Have a good one folks.....

Dream Waves: New Mutants part 2

Hey people.

Been a week or more since my last post, and that's all due to undergoing yet another round of my stomachs favorite illness, food poisoning.

Basically my state, as well as the lower to mid-Atlantic states, were all hit by Hurricane Matthew. As a result, power was out starting from noon Saturday, to early Monday morning. Trust me, my area was very fortunate compared to others.
Anyway, I guess one of the microwave meals of mine I thought was still good from the power outage, wasn't, and I've been dealing with the ramifications ever since.

Doing a lot better now, but still on recovery road as of this post.

Did get some sweet swag though, in the form of three Marvel Legends figures; The Abomination BAF wave Captain Britain, The Space Venom BAF wave Electro, and from the newly released Dormammu BAF wave, Brother Voodoo.

Really impressed with how they turned out, especially the sheer size of Captain Britain compared to the first version, and that sweet, sweet Brother Voodoo figure. I'm glad we all finally have a chance to own one.

Now we just need one featuring his original look and a ghostly snap on addition of his dead brother to go with it.

Speaking of Marvel Legends figures, today I'm finally getting around to finishing out my ideal dream wave of New Mutants figures I started earlier this month.

The first wave contains most of the original team members, while this second, will feature the rest of the team, as well as important later additions and villains.

New Mutants Wave 2:

1). Magma

Ideally you'd want to feature an alternate set of body parts and a head to help really make her powers show.

2). Kitty Pryde

I had originally planned on placing Lila Cheney in this slot, but changed my mind. Despite there already being two Shadowcat figures out, we still don't have this iconic one or the one from her days in Excalibur.

3). Rictor
Like a lot of the later additions to the team, Rictor had has his fair share of horrible looks. Just down right fucking horrible. This was the only one I could stand. Just goes to show you folks, not all stereotypes are true.

Personally I still prefer this look of his overall:

4). Boom Boom

Damn I swear the 80's was not good to the New Mutants with all the horrible designs that somehow were allowed. It's like some of the artists either didn't care or wanted to forever date these characters in the then in vogue fashions of the day.  Boom boom, much like her fellow teammates, has often found herself saddled with bad looks. At this one's passable.

5). Legion

I still don't quite understand why we don't have a David Haller Legion figure yet, outside of his hideous design. Still, some modifications can still be made. I know I'd definitely include several alternative heads if nothing else to really play up his power set.

6). Black Queen Selene

In a perfect world, we'd have already been blessed with an official Hellfire Club box set. But since we haven't, the very deadly and fucking hot Selene gets a spot on this wave for being such an influential and formidable opponent for the New Mutants.

7). White King Magneto

Yes folks, Magneto actually did wear this outfit for awhile back in the day, especially when he took over as official headmaster of Xavier's school.

Still, while there's a few other looks I'd like to get made eventually, this one is very much appropriate to the times back then.
BAF: Demon Bear

I don't know how the sculptors over at Hasbro would handle designing this beast, but they would really have to bring it to do this guy justice.

And that ladies and gentlemen, concludes my idea for two wave's worth of New Mutants figures for the Marvel Legends line.
If you have any suggestions or ideas, feel more than free to let me know.

Dream Waves: The New Mutants

TGIF!!!!!!

Haven't done one of these in awhile, so here's another exciting edition of Dream Waves, where I blog about a dream themed wave of specific characters I'd like to see made for the Marvel Legends line of figures.

Today, I'm offering my suggestion for a New Mutants-themed wave.

Ever since they debuted in 1982, The New Mutants have earned themselves a heavily devoted following of fans that exist since then. And in all that time, the New Mutants haven't really been represented in action figure form, outside of a couple here and there.

Well today, I'd like to fix that by offering my suggestion for a New Mutants only themed wave in the Marvel Legends line.

New Mutants Wave 1:

1). Cannonball

Gotta' have the leader right? So you need Sam Guthrie in all his corn-fed, ah shucks glory. Probably be nice if they included some kind of propulsion effect to go along with him to mimic his mutant power.

2). Sunspot

Definitely need Sunspot. I'd include an alternate set of hands and a head to better mimic his black solar-powered form.

3). Danielle Moonstar

Should include her trademark illusion -casting arrows and bow.

4). Karma

I guess they could include an alternate head and especially a snap-on piece to mimic how she looks when she uses her powers.

5). Wolfsbane

Should come with an alternate head, hands and feet to better show off her wolf-transforming powers, oh, and none of that half-assed shit like we got with Cap-Wolf either.

6). Magik

Sure we got the modern version, but this calls for her New Mutants' look. She'll need her soulsword and some teleportation disks to come included with her.

7). Cypher

I hesitated to add him this round, especially since he's pretty generic-looking, but he is a key OG member, so....... Also he better come with Warlock skateboard too.
Just saying.....

BAF: Warlock

Now it already looks like we'll be getting a Warlock figure some time in the very near future, but I thought I'd include him anyways. He should come with a set of alternate hands and heads.

And that's just the first wave.
Next week I'll be showcasing Wave 2, and rounding out the rest of the team and some of their signature enemies and allies.

Have a good one.......

"Closing time. You don't have to go home but you can't stay here."

Well..... I kinda always knew this day would come, and it sure has. It's been a hell of a ride, but it's time to for it end. Ti...
