So, Who Would Win?: Hellcat VS. Tigra

TGIF!!!!

Getting right into it today, as I decided to pit two popular female Marvel superheroes against each other,
Hellcat and Tigra.

Now I don't know if you already knew this or not, but Patsy Walker is using Tigra's old costume from the 70's, back when she was calling herself  The Cat.

Well once Greer Nelson went into full-on cat mode, she didn't need a costume anymore. So when Marvel golden age character Patsy walker decided to become a bona fide superhero, she decided to use Tigra's old duds, and the rest is history.

Also interestingly enough, both Tigra and Hellcat have served as Avengers. Just not at the same time.

Anyhoo, I figured it'd be a cool match-up between the two to see who wore the blue and yellow best, and who was the better "Cat."

Let's take a quick look at their stats using Marvel.com:

Hellcat:

Height
5'8"
Weight
135 lbs
Eyes
Blue
Hair
Red

Powers:

As a result of her experiences in hell and her resurrection, Patsy has a "demon sight" perception that allows her to sense mystical phenomena or those items or persons tinged with mystical energy. She is also surrounded by a mystical field that can deflect mystical attacks. It also allows Patsy to summon a costume that mimics her original Hellcat costume, and it appears in a fashion according to her whim. Hellcat once possessed enhanced psionic abilities, due to the mental stimulation of Moondragon’s Titanian technology. She could move small objects telekinetically, resist mental control, and on one occasion was able to generate a psychokinetic force-blast. Moondragon has since used her own advanced psionic powers to undo the effects of her psychic augmenter. Since then, Walker’s psychic abilities have returned but to a far lesser degree than at their peak. She no longer has any psychokinetic ability, but she is still sensitive to certain psychic phenomena.

Tigra:

Height
5'10"
Weight
180 lbs.
Eyes
Green
Hair
Orange fur with black stripes; Black in human form

Powers:
Tigra possesses superhumanly acute senses of smell, hearing, and vision as well as night vision. She also has superhuman strength, speed, agility, endurance, and healing ability.

Got all that? Good.

So......

Hellcat

 VS.

Tigra

"Talking Body"

Because that song always gets stuck in my head.....

The End

And just in case you haven't heard this one yet.....

So who watched Arrow last night?
*Quick Spoilers*

In another damn fine episode, Ollie and Team Ollie take his techinally dead sister Thea to Nanda Parbat in order to dip her in the Lazerus Pit. Malcom doesn't like the idea, but is out-voted, and so they all go.

Once there, Ollie tells Ra's he'll be his heir once Thea's fixed and his friends and loved ones are left alone.
Ra's agrees and so it's done.
Thea gets healedbut then goes temporarly nuts(as is the expected result of bathing in the pit) and after a very poignant converastaion bewteen Felicity and Ra's, she and Ollie finally fuck after professing their love for each other.
A big yay there for sure. The Felicity drugs ollie, as she and Team Arrow try to escape out the back door with Ollie.
They get caight nayways, and just as shit looks bad, Ollie wakes up and orders the League to stand down.
They do, and Ollie forces Team Arrow to go back home empty-handed.

As I said, another damn fine episode. With so many really good, solid episodes this season, I'm calling Season 3 as the best overall season of Arrow ever. But that's just me.

Still 3 more episodes to go before the season finale, and damn I can't wait to see how the writers chose to end this season. Especially since Ollie seems to being going all-in on becoming Ra's heir. After all, he got branded with his Arrow symbol, and next week faces his friends in particularly hairy situation where he maybe forced to kill Diggle. Hmmmm.

Back Issue Spotlight: Swamp Thing#15 (Vol.1)

What's up people?

Took a break yesterday since my girl and I were still celebrating her 25th birthday,
so you know, priorities;)

Working on the second skit strip now, so we'll get to that one Thursday.
Today, is another edition of Back Issue Spotlight featuring Swamp Thing.

Specifically, Swamp Thing#15 from his first ongoing series all the way back to 1975.
So break out your pet rocks, bell-bottoms and tube socks, 'cause we're going back in time......

Swamp Thing#15 (Vol. 1) (April '75) "The Soul Spell Of Father Bliss" By David Micheline and Nestor Redondo.

Who says you don't learn things from comics?

If the groovy title doesn't grab you, how about Swampy getting straight up struck by lighting?
That'll sure sell some copies, by God!

Poor bastard was just minding his own business, when he just happens to run afoul of mother nature.
Layed out like a champ, he comes to as a strange man happens by to help him.

The guys justhappens to be a priest. A "father" if you will. Maybe like the one in the title of today's story perhaps?

Father Bliss is the name of the stranger, and unlike most people who comes across Swampy, he doesn't run from fear of him, nor want to kill/hurt him.

Actually he just wants to help him....and rub him down with some lotion/"home remedies"

You know were thinking it too

Swampy seeing that his church is looking kinda' fucked up and bombed out(even by middle eastern standards), starts to head for the door, but then Father Bliss feels compleed to explain why his church looks the way it does, and why there's no congregation there anymore.

Basically Bliss says that his "flock" have strayed away from God so much, he felt he had to resort to using the other side's tactics in an attempt to win them back.

Obviously its worked so well for him so far since he's still spends his days preaching to an invisible choir.

Look at Swampy over there. He's like "Awww, that old priest looks so cute trying to use black magic."

Actually no, not cute.

Turns out Father Bliss has been working with a demon named Nebiros(*who may or may not be the same demon that created the Blue Devil*) and that demon sensed Swampy's presense and now wants to posses his body since Swampy's so....sturdy.

*
  • "Even though they share the same name, Nebiros is not the same demon which appears in the 1980's comic Blue Devil. Different appearances aside, this is confirmed in Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe #16 (1986)."
Well that answers that huh?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention Swampy's friends.

Matt Cable and Abigal Arcane. They were regulars during this time period, and definitely before Abbie and Alec/Swampy hooked up during Moore's run.

A very possessed Swampy attacks his concerned friends and takes them straight to Father Bliss who has some nice and very family-friendly plans for them. NOT!

Bliss' pal Nebiros needs all the nice fresh souls he can get, so Bliss plans on helping him since Nebiros promisedf to return his congregation to him.

But Bliss starts to get second thoughts after seeing him destroy a human soul in person.

Matt's words are enough to convince Father Bliss he was wrong to help Nebiros, and Bliss starts to fix things by freeing Swampy of his new host.

This naturally pisses off Nebiros something fierce and after Abby breaks the mystical orb that held Swampy's soul, Nebiros begins to attack everybody.

An epic battle rages between Swampy and Nebiros once they lock up, with a stalemate occuring.
It's then that Bliss decides to con Nebiros into possessing his tired old body, and Nebiros practially kills the both of them once Bliss' body burns up due to being way to frail to contain all of Nebiros.

After that, what's left of Bliss' church blows up and collapses on itself.
And that's how it pretty much ends.

Say what you will about this era of Swampy's history, but it definitely opened the door for all sorts of weirdness and fucked up shit to happen alot.  If it wasn't demons trying to posses him, it was fucked up monsters, and zombies that happened to cross his path. Trust me, all that weird and philisophical shit that Alan Moore is praised for bringing to Swampy hadn't set any precedents that writers like Micheline, Wein, and others hadn't already introduced into the book themselves.

So, Who Would Win!?:Criminal Syndicate of Amerika VS. Squadron Supreme(Classic)

TGIT!!!!

Hell of an ending to last night's episode of Arrow.
Did not see that twist at the end. BOTH of them.

*SPOILERS*

With Roy in prison, and no chance of getting out anytime soon, he, unbeknowst to Ollie, along with Team Arrow, faked his death in prison.

By doing this, Ollie is now free to be the Arrow w/o reprisal by the cops....for now.
Where Roy goes from here I have no idea. I think there's supposed to be a new team-up show, much like the Brave and the Bold, and if so, I can easily see Roy showing up there next.

Poor Thea though.
Sure Roy told Ollie to let her know he ws okay, but then what?

And before that particualr question gets played out, Ra's shows up at Thea's appartment and seemingly kills her.

Double cliffhanger right?
I have to say, these last few episodes have all been seasin finale-worthy, so I'm damn curious as to what the actual season finale winds up being.

Onto this week's edition of So, Who Would Win, and this week's participants,
namely the Criminal Syndicate of Amerika and The Squadron Supreme.

It's not like I need an excuse before to mix and match heroes and villains from different companies, but thanks to Secret Wars and Convergance, I have something to blame all that on;)

And what hell of a match up right?

For this one, I'm pitting the NU52 versions of the CSA against the classic 1985 versions of the Squadron Supreme.

Yeah, most people probably didn't care for the new costumes and more agressive attitude of the NU52 version of the CSA, but I dig 'em.

For the Squadron, I preferred the classic versions to contrast with the more modern and edgier CSA.
Sure I could've used the Marvel MAX/Supremeverse versions, and I may later down the line, but the classic lineup seemed the more interesting way to go.

The CSA's roster for this one is as follows:

-Ultraman
-Superwoman
-Johnny Quick
-Owlman
-Power Ring

as well as the three newer additions, Grid, Atomica, and Deathstorm.

The Squadron's roster will look like this:

-Hyperion
-Power Woman
-The Whizzer
-Dr, Spectrum
-Moonglow
-Nighthawk
-Golden Archer
-Lady Lark

Sure there's more members of the team, but since the CSA only has 8 members, fair's fair, and now so do the Squadron.

And hey, who hasn't fantazied a lot about a matchup between the top two opposites/analogues for the Justice League.

So......

The Criminal Syndicate Of Amerika

VS.

The Squadron Supreme

Who Wins and Why?
Give me your picks in the comments' section.

Have good one people.....

"Closing time. You don't have to go home but you can't stay here."

Well..... I kinda always knew this day would come, and it sure has. It's been a hell of a ride, but it's time to for it end. Ti...
