It just showed us all sadly how out of touch he was when it came to writing in the more modern era.
Personally I was thrilled for the whole concept when it first debuted. Shit, I still remember QVC pimping the shit out of all shiny, foil-covered 1's.
Initially I was into X-Men2099 and Spider-man2099, but then lost interest and only collected very sporadically. If it had better writers (With the exceptions of Peter David, Pat Mills and Ellis) and much better art, it could've been better and lasted a but longer than it did. But it was most defintiely of its time, like a lot of fads from that decade.

@King- Never thought of it like that, the comparisons to AzBats, but I guess I can see it. Tom Morgan may have been used a good bit during the 90's but I never really warmed up to his art style, especially during his Iron Man run.
From what I've read, Gallows was very much a parody/caricature of Frank, just not as well-written. I guess in a sense, he's what Frank could become later down the line if he chose to, although I'm sure he'd probably be jealous of that private jail complete with execution gear that Gallows had underneath his home.
I figure Gallows's future tech would allow him to give Frank enough of a problem for the fight to last a good long time, before Frank out frank's him in the end.Mr. Morbid's House Of Funhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06721085161381688977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37809963.post-52827879922131457032016-03-13T03:24:52.619-04:002016-03-13T03:24:52.619-04:00Jake Gallows was just a parody of Frank Castle, re...Jake Gallows was just a parody of Frank Castle, really... He was all the crazy shit The Punisher was- BUT TO THE EXTREME!!! Just look at that costume... it's gloriously terrible. (And I think it's design was even a little jab at Azrael's Batman costume too) His comic was one of the weaker offerings from the 2099 line... But I still love him showing up again recently, too!
Even though Frank would be out-gunned: I think he'd outsmart a rage-fueled maniac like Gallows.
